Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Bayern is
healthy and back working at Santa Anita.
Trained by Bob Baffert, the 4-year-old colt had his workout Monday since early
January. Sidelined with a hind foot abscess, Bayern worked three furlongs in
36.60 seconds.
Bayern, owned by Kaleem Shah, would have taken on Horse of the Year
California Chrome and 2013 Eclipse Award winner Shared Belief in the 1 1/8-
mile San Antonio on Feb. 7 if not for the foot problem.
Bayern won the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 1 at Santa Anita and earlier
captured the Woody Stephens Stakes, Haskell Invitational and Pennsylvania
Derby, The colt has earned $4,389,680 with six wins from 10 career races, all
in 2014.
