Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) – Following a busy weekend for Kentucky
Derby hopefuls, Bold Conquest had the only Monday workout at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, Bold Conquest worked five furlongs in 1:02.80 over
a track labeled as “good” and galloped out six furlongs in 1:16.80 with
exercise rider Abel Flores.
“He just ran eight days ago, so he didn’t need much,” Asmussen texted.
Bold Conquest, owned by Ackerley Brothers Farm, was third in Oaklawn Park’s
Rebel Stakes and fifth in the Arkansas Derby, both behind American Pharoah. He
is 23rd on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.
Also at Cuurchill on Monday, American Pharoah galloped 1 1/2 miles under
exercise rider Jorge Alvarez.
Louisiana Derby winner International Star galloped 1 1/4 miles at the
Trackside training center near the track with regular exercise rider Joel
Barrientos aboard.
Danzig Moon, the Blue Grass Stakes runner-up, galloped 1 1/2 miles with
Julien Leparoux riding.
Mr. Z, third in the Arkansas Derby, galloped just over a mile with exercise
rider Edvin Vargas in the saddle.
Wood Memorial runner-up Tencendur arrived at Churchill Downs at 5 a.m. ET
Monday morning from Belmont Park.
War Story, third in the Louisiana Derby, galloped 1 1/2 miles under exercise
rider Marvin Orantes.
Monday morning at Arlington Park, UAE Derby winner Mubtaahij, owned by Sheikh
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, went twice around the syntehtic main track.
