California Chrome continues working for 2015 debut

Los Alamitos, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Newly turned 4-year-old California
Chrome put in his first workout of 2015 Saturday morning at Los Alamitos with
a six-furlong effort of 1:12.3.

The 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner is trained by Art Sherman
for owners Steve Coburn and Perry Martin and is ridden by Victor Espinoza.

The chestnut colt will start in the $500,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita
on Feb. 7.

California Chrome concluded his 3-year-old season on Nov. 29 with a solid win
on the turf in the 1 1/8-mile Hollywood Derby at Del Mar.

California Chrome finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 1 just
a neck behind winner Bayern and runner-up Toast of New York.

Early this year he posted three straight wins at Santa Anita in the California
Cup Derby, San Felipe Stakes and Santa Anita Derby before taking the first two
legs of the Triple Crown.

He was fourth in the Belmont Stakes and sixth to Bayern in the $1 million
Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing on Sept. 20.

California Chrome has banked $4,222,650 from 16 career starts with nine wins.
