New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Santa Anita Handicap winner Shared Belief
and San Felipe Stakes champ Dortmund remain atop the 2015 NTRA Thoroughbred
Poll and 3-year-old poll, respectively.
Shared Belief, co-owned and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, received all 45
first-place votes cast in the National Poll. The 4-year-old gelding, 2013’s
champion 2-year-old, has 450 points in week 2 of the balloting.
Main Sequence, who finished first in last season’s final poll, is second with
371 points followed by defending Horse of the Year California Chrome (327),
Honor Code (235), Constitution (216), Breeders’ Cup Classic champ Bayern
(151), Lea (124), Dortmund (84), Wise Dan (64) and Salutos Amigos (58).
Dortmund, trained by Bob Baffert, holds down the top spot in the 3-year-old
poll with 22 first-place votes and 413 points. Moving into second from fourth
is Eclipse Award winner American Pharoah with 15 top votes and 394 points
after winning Saturday’s Rebel Stakes.
Tampa Bay Derby winner Carpe Diem got five first-place votes and 326 points
followed by Upstart (1, 296), El Kabeir (188), International Star (184),
Far From Over (1, 135), Itsaknockout (113), Firing Line (111) and Texas Red
(1, 95).
