Shared Belief to make inaugural plane flight for Charles Town Classic

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Champion thoroughbred Shared Belief will
be getting on an airplane for the first time to start in the $1.5 million
Charles Town Classic on April 18.

Shared Belief, trained by co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Hall of
Fame jockey Mike Smith, has never raced anywhere but California while being
based at Golden Gate Fields near San Francisco.

“There’s always that element of doing something new,” Hollendorfer said.
“But so far, we’ve shipped him up and down the coast and he hasn’t seemed to
mind.

“Flying is different, but we think he’ll do that just fine also.”

The 4-year-old gelding registered a 4 1/4-length win in the $1 million Santa
Anita Handicap on March 7 after defeating Horse of the Year California Chrome
four weeks earlier in Santa Anita’s San Antonio Invitational.

Shared Belief has banked $2,932,200 with just one loss in 11 career starts.
