Untapable works first time at Fair Grounds this year

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) – Eclipse Award winning filly Untapable
had her first workout as a 4-year-old Monday at Fair Grounds.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Untapable covered four furlongs in 51.80 seconds,
while stablemate Tapiture was timed in 52.20 seconds for the half-mile.

“They worked very well,” said Winchell Thoroughbreds racing manager David
Fiske. “Fantastic might have been the adjective I heard (from Asmussen). They
both went very easily and were traveling great. Everyone is pretty pleased.
We’ll get them fit and see how long that takes and start looking for spots.”

Winner of the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Untapable was the unanimous choice as
2014 champion 3-year-old filly.

She won the Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing prior to winning the Distaff. The
filly began 2014 with consecutive victories at Fair Grounds in the Rachel
Alexandra and Fair Grounds Oaks. She won the Kentucky Oaks on May 2 by 4 1/2
lengths and posted a 9 1/4-length victory in the Mother Goose Stakes on June
28 at Belmont Park.

Her only loss of the year came when she finished fifth as the 7-5 favorite
versus males in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 27. Bayern
won that race going wire to wire and repeated in both the Pennsylvania Derby
and Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Untapable has earned $2,996,725 in 11 lifetime starts with eight wins.
